SASKATOON — A woman accused of attacking a 75-year-old woman with a garden tool in Saskatoon's Eastview neighbourhood will be sentenced in July.
Gina Pearl Beatty, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing bodily harm, assault, failing to comply with an undertaking, and two counts of failing to appear in court.
The sentencing date was set on April 23 in Saskatoon Provincial Court. Beatty didn’t appear, and her lawyer appeared on her behalf.
Beatty was arrested in August 2025 and charged with aggravated assault, assaulting a peace officer, breach of an undertaking and breach of probation.
The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 21 when Saskatoon police responded to a community garden in the 3100 block of Arlington Ave. shortly after 5:10 p.m. Police said the senior was gardening when an unknown woman approached her and struck her with a garden tool. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
Officers arrested Beatty after locating her in a nearby treeline.
At the time of the incident, Beatty was serving a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO) to be served in the community and was on a three-year probation term following her 2022 conviction for arson. That case involved a fire at a memorial centre in Prince Albert.
