The Flin Flon Bombers are champions once again.
Th Bombers captured their first SJHL Canterra Seeds Cup since 1993 with a 2-0 Game 4 victory over the Yorkton Terriers, completing a convincing four-game sweep in the league final.
For head coach and GM Mike Reagan, it’s a long-awaited breakthrough after coming close so many times.
“There’s been a lot of heartbreak over the years,” Reagan said. “To finally get it done with this group after everything we’ve been through—it means a lot to this organization and this community.”
After a scoreless opening 40 minutes, Daniel Morozov broke through just 2:38 into the third period, beating a screened Alexandro Montoya for the game-winner. He added a second goal later in the period to seal it, while Charlie Tritt turned aside all 25 shots he faced for his fourth shutout of the playoffs.
The victory ends a 33-year wait for a championship in Flin Flon—dating back to that seven-game win over the Melville Millionaires in 1993—and caps off years of frustration after multiple near-misses.
Playoff MVP Connor Miller who had a league-high nine goals in the playoffs, says the moment is something the team will never forget.
“It’s unreal,” Miller said. “All the work, all the ups and downs—we stuck with it and found a way. To win it all with this group is pretty special.”
With the win, the Bombers now advance to the Centennial Cup, set for May 7th through 17th in Summerside, where they’ll represent the SJHL on the national stage.
