SASKATOON — Nominations are again open for the 2026 Saskatchewan Recreation Awards for the following categories: Community Wellbeing, Leadership Excellence, and the Volunteer Champion.
The annual awards, presented by the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association, honour communities, municipalities, and individuals for innovative and successful parks and recreation projects.
These projects may be improving social wellbeing for residents in their communities, and for individuals who make a difference in the parks and recreation industry through their leadership and volunteerism.
Last year's recipients were Farm It Forward from Mossbank (Community Award), Saskatoon’s Ashley George (Leadership Excellence Award) and Dean Heuchart of Wynyard (Volunteer Champion).
SPRA said there is no limit on the number of nominees per category, and the nomination deadline is Friday, May 15, by 4 p.m. For more information, visit the SPRA website.
The SPRA added that the awards program is a great opportunity for communities to celebrate the dedication of organizations, groups, volunteers, and others who find the time to improve the wellbeing of others through recreation.
