REGINA — A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a 36-year-old man in the city’s second homicide of the year.
Blayne Okemaysim is facing a charge of second-degree murder following an investigation by the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., on April 13, police were dispatched to a report of an injured male in the 3100 block of 5th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located the victim and began to attempt life-saving measures. EMS arrived a short time later and declared the victim, 36 year-old Myles Anderson of Regina, deceased on scene. The area was secured and the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, the Regina Police Service Forensic Identification Unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service were called in.
Nearly two weeks later, on April 24, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of Toronto Street. Officers located Okemaysim and arrested him without incident.
He will make his first appearance on this charge in Regina Provincial Court on April 27.
