The Saskatchewan Roughriders are adding some local flavour to their 2026 training camp roster.
The team announced four Saskatchewan products will join camp, including three standouts from the Prairie Football Conference and a quarterback from the University of Saskatchewan through the CFL QB Internship Program.
Running back Peter Boersch of the Regina Thunder headlines the group after a dominant 2025 season. The Regina product rushed for a conference-best 1,436 yards over 10 games, averaging 7.3 yards per carry while scoring five touchdowns. He played his high school football with the O’Neill Titans.
Another running back, Corbin Ebben from the Saskatoon Hilltops, also joins camp. The Vanscoy product rushed for 380 yards and five touchdowns in eight games last season after a breakout 2024 campaign where he piled up 1,188 yards and eight touchdowns, earning PFC all-star honours.
Receiver Benjamin Walz, also from the Thunder, rounds out the territorial junior additions. The Major, Sask. product recorded 27 catches for 303 yards and a touchdown in 2025 and was named a PFC all-star. The 6-foot-4 target played high school football with the Kerrobert Rebels.
At quarterback, Jake Farrell of the Saskatchewan Huskies joins the Riders through the CFL’s internship program. The Saskatoon native took over the Huskies’ offence midway through the 2025 season and led the team to a 3-0 regular-season record as a starter. He threw for 647 yards and eight touchdowns before guiding the Huskies on a playoff run to the Vanier Cup. Farrell was particularly impressive in the Hardy Cup, throwing for 356 yards and two touchdowns in a comeback victory.
Rookie camp is set to run Wednesday through Friday at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon, with main camp opening Sunday.
