REGINA — Two people are facing weapons charges following a traffic stop.
On May 4, members of the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT Regina), with the assistance of the Patrol, Aerial Support Unit and Canine Unit, conducted a traffic stop at Dewdney Avenue and Elphinstone Street.
Two occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman, were taken into custody on outstanding warrants. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded handgun.

The man was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, failing to comply with release conditions, and failing to comply with probation.
Both accused made their first appearances on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on May 5.
