The 620 CKRM Country Cookout is a beloved Saskatchewan tradition that brings a coming together celebration directly to local farming families during the busy seeding and harvest seasons. We get a chance to have a “Farm-to-Table” feast with our winners receiving a full catered spread from Nicky’s Cafe & Catering, often featuring roast beef and all the trimmings. We also bring the music with local artists who have found their way on to the 620 CKRM airwaves. My favourite part is broadcasting live from nearby communities and sharing the communities/farm’s story with everyone.
For me it’s all about the community Pride: It honors the hard work of Saskatchewan’s ag industry, creating a space for neighbors and family to gather and swap stories.
None of this is done without the generosity and involvement of our great sponsors. Thank you ….

We had a great day with the Herlick’s (Jesse & Carlene) near Tribune, Sk. So great to connect with the young farming families and all the neighbors, friends and family. We had another receptive crew that appreciated all we were doing with our cookouts.
I started my day in Tribune then discovered Bromhead, Torquay, Oungre and the Oungre Regional Park before heading to the Herlicks farm. Here’s how my day looked in South East Saskatchewan.

Sharan Walkaton of Tribune stopped by to give us the rundown on Tribunes community events. She also worked with my wife Donnie in Weyburn. Great lady whose husband is the Reeve of Souris Valley region.

Next we were off to check out Bromhead. A quiet hamlet that at one time was a booming community. Love the rustic and old buildings….surprisingly they still had their elevator standing.

Time to head a little south and East to Torquay.

Next stop was the community of Oungre and the Oungre Regional Park which is having a big fundraiser this June to pay for renovations at the pool and in particular the new liners for it. Check out the poster. https://oungrepark.ca/

Time to get the Herlick’s for our Country Cookout! Big thanks to Justin Labrash for the great music!
