REGINA — The search for Regina’s new city manager has begun.
The city is actively taking applications for the role, according to a job posting on its website.
“The City of Regina is seeking a credible, relationship-centred city manager who brings sound judgment, political acuity and a steady leadership presence,” according to the posting.
Regina has been without a permanent city manager for nearly a year after Niki Anderson was fired in June without cause.
Before her firing, Anderson went on leave, leading to Jim Nicol serving as acting city manager, while Amber Ackerman assumed the responsibilities of acting city clerk following Nicol’s transition into the interim role.
For the role, Regina is seeking a steady and collaborative leader to guide the organization through future change and growth.
“This leader will value listening, alignment and transparency, and will approach transformation thoughtfully — balancing stability with progress while strengthening organizational confidence and performance over time.”
City council is hopeful the next city manager will bring professional and respectful dialogue for important decisions.
“Council values clear advice, open dialogue, and principled decision‑making, and recognizes that strong outcomes are achieved when elected officials and administration work within their respective roles, grounded in trust, transparency and shared accountability.”
The role doesn’t state the starting date for the successful applicant nor the salary.
The city will take applications for the new city manager until May 22.
