NORTH BATTLEFORD — Saskatchewan RCMP’s homicide Investigation Unit has released surveillance footage of 65-year-old Melissa Kohle-Derkachenko, hoping the public can help piece together her final movements before she was killed.
The video, obtained by police from the Walmart on Carlton Trail in North Battleford, shows Kohle-Derkachenko on the morning of April 5, she is seen wearing a black jacket, blue and green plaid patterned pants, black boots, and glasses.
Her death is being treated as a homicide and investigators say the footage is the last known confirmed sighting of her.
“Investigators are releasing the video of Melissa so people can see what she looks like and what she was wearing the last time she was seen,” said the RCMP in a statement. “It is their hope that tips from the public may help develop a clearer timeline of events leading up to her death.”

Suspicious activity in Battleford Easter weekend
Police are asking anyone who saw or had contact with Kohle-Derkachenko in early April to come forward. They are also appealing for information about suspicious activity in the 20th Street West area of Battleford over Easter weekend.
“Any information – no matter how small it may seem – can be vital to advancing an investigation,” said the RCMP. “What you know could be the missing piece investigators need to bring answers and closure to Melissa’s family.”
Kohle-Derkachenko’s body was discovered on April 8 at approximately 2:45 p.m. at a home on the 20th Street West in Battleford.
