REGINA β SGI has already received dozens of calls due to the wind storm that slammed into Saskatchewan on May 13 and 14.
According to an email from SGI media relations on May 15 at 2:43 p.m., SGI has received 27 wind-related auto claims in southern Saskatchewan. The Crown corporation added this includes vehicles that were damaged by the wind or by objects blown into/onto them.
SGI Canada has received another 140 wind-related property claims from southern Saskatchewan, media relations said. Reported damage includes shingles tearing off buildings, trees falling onto property, and grain bins overturning. These figures do not include claims submitted to other insurers.
βIt's too early to tell the significance of this storm, as these are preliminary numbers and will likely grow once people have had a chance to assess the damage and file a claim,β SGI said in the email to SaskToday.
Customers can submit an auto or property claim online at mysgi.ca or contact SGI at 1-844-855-2744. They can also get in touch with their local insurance broker or claims centre.
