The heart of the Saskatchewan prairies beats the loudest where the grid roads meets the homesteads that hold the province together. In rural Saskatchewan we know, who the cornerstones are on the economy and lifeline to this great province. Nothing captures this spirit quite like the 620 CKRM Country Cookout. This beloved tradition brings energy, food, and the best country music right into the backyards of the province’s hardest-working towns.
Among the stops along this celebration trail yesterday were the tight-knit communities of Raymore, Quinton, and Punnichy.
These towns represent the very best of Saskatchewan’s rural heritage. Raymore welcomes visitors with its bustling local businesses, active sports grounds, and a community spirit that makes anyone feel like a neighbor. Just down the highway, Quinton charms with its quiet resilience, deep agricultural roots, and a history built by generations of dedicated farming families. Nearby, Punnichy stands proud, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Touchwood Hills, offering rich cultural history and a gateway to some beautiful regional parks. This region showcases a unique blend of history, cooperation, and stunning amount of historical heritage.
When we (620 CKRM Country Cookout) roll into the area, it turns a regular day into an unforgettable local gathering. The sounds of laughter, stories and comradery along with the familiar voices of Saskatchewan’s favorite radio personalities. This is a well-deserved celebration for local farmers, friends, and families who keep these communities thriving. More than just a free meal, the cookout is a powerful reminder of the strength found in rural towns—where people still look out for one another and take time to celebrate their shared roots.
From the calming streets of Raymore to the warm hospitality of Quinton and Punnichy, this region proves that the true wealth of the prairies lies in its people. We do more than just serve lunch…. we put a spotlight on a well-deserved part of rural Saskatchewan. Please check out my journey.

One of my favourite stops was discovering this historical point north of Punnichy.

Love the old farm houses and barns in the area and there were a few historical churches to check out all within 20 minutes of each other.
