SASKATOON — Saskatoon police are investigating a series of robberies that occurred over the May long weekend, each involving different suspects and locations.
Restaurant robbery attempt
The first one happened on May 16. At approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a restaurant in the 200 block of 33rd Street West for an in-progress robbery. When officers arrived, police learned two males entered the restaurant and demanded cash while brandishing a knife and what appeared to be the handle of a firearm. They weren’t successful and were last seen running eastbound on 33rd Street.
Parking lot assault and robbery
The second robbery occurred on May 18. At approximately 3:45 p.m., police responded to a parking lot in the 1600 block of 22nd Street West in response to a robbery. Police located the victim suffering from injuries from a physical assault who reported that the suspects stole his cell phone and cash. The 38-year-old was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled prior to police arriving.
Armed robbery with sawed-off shotgun
The third one also occurred on May 18. Shortly before 5 p.m. a man reported walking in the 200 block of Avenue R South when he was approached by a male armed with a sawed-off shotgun. The males entered a residence where the victim was robbed of his cell phone, sweater and hat. The victim fled the residence uninjured.
