ESTEVAN — A motorist has been charged for impaired driving after he was arrested by the Estevan Police Service (EPS).
According to the May 20 police report, a traffic stop during night shift resulted in a 39-year-old Estevan man being charged for drug-impaired driving after the EPS said he performed poorly on tests administered by a drug recognition expert.
His driver’s licence was suspended indefinitely and he was lodged in cells until sober. The EPS added he will make a future appearance in Estevan Provincial Court to speak to the charge.
That same day, the EPS said members received a report of a domestic assault during the day shift. The matter remains under investigation with additional information to be obtained.
The EPS received a complaint about criminal harassment involving former spouses that the EPS says remains under investigation.
A complaint of a stolen scooter was received in which a possible suspect has been identified by the complainant. The EPS said additional follow-up will be conducted on the file.
A youth was found walking around in the middle of the night while the EPS said she was grossly intoxicated. She was arrested and transported to the hospital for assessment and monitoring.
The Police and Crisis Team (PACT) members conducted a well-being check on a woman. According to the EPS, she was ill but declined further assistance. Additional follow-up by the PACT team will be conducted.
Three suspicious individuals were reported in a backyard in east Estevan. All three were located, spoken to and sent on their way. The EPS said nothing criminal was detected during contact with police.
A complaint was received of two vehicles stunting in a local parking lot. The EPS said members attended but were unable to locate the subject vehicles on scene or while conducting patrols during the remainder of the night shift.
Members attended to a domestic disturbance in east Estevan during night shift. Neither of the individuals involved was initially prepared to leave the residence, but following interaction with police, one of the parties agreed to leave for the night to ensure the matter didn’t escalate further.
EPS members attended to a central Estevan residence May 21 for a report of a pick-up truck attempting to drive through the front door. According to the EPS, an investigation determined the vehicle hadn’t actually damaged the door but an attempt to do so occurred. The driver was not present at the residence or in the area during the investigation, but it was determined that the incident was a result of a domestic dispute. No injuries were sustained during the incident and the EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
Police conducted a search of a residence belonging to a 42-year-old man who is bound by court-ordered conditions. During the search, several items that the man was prohibited from possessing were located and he was subsequently arrested for breaching his release conditions. He was charged and released with a future court date to speak to the matter.
Members attended to a central Estevan residence in response to a report of a domestic disturbance at that location. The EPS said both parties were separated for the evening and no further police involvement was required.
A report of a suspicious vehicle driving erratically in the north end of the city was received during night shift. The EPS said the vehicle was located and a traffic stop conducted during which several youths were spoken to regarding the complaint. The young people advised they were playing a game called Senior Assassin, and were cautioned to drive appropriately and responsibly while playing.
Police were dispatched to a local liquor establishment for a man refusing to pay his tab. The individual paid his bill prior to police arriving and was sent on his way after speaking with officers.
Police conducted a well-being check on an individual after family members raised concerns that they had not heard from them since the previous day. The individual was located safe and well, and was offered services through the EPS PACT unit.
