The dust will literally be flying this summer at Country Thunder Saskatchewan when bull riding returns to the festival. Country Thunder and Canadian Western Agribition have partnered together to bring professional bull riding to Craven during festival weekend at the Agribition Arena featuring an $8,000 prize pool.
“We’ve cleared out where the volleyball court used to be just at the end of mainstreet and that is going to be, basically, a bull riding arena,” explained Megan Benoit of Country Thunder Saskatchewan.
Traditional festival goers will remember bull riding in the early days of the festival, however it’s been many years since bull riding was last on the site. The event, called Buckin’ Thunder, is sanctioned under Bull Riders Canada which means many of the country’s top bull riders will be participating this summer.
“It is included in your festival admission, so it’s not a seperate ticket. If you want to come for the bull riding, you got to stay for the music,” Benoit said.
Buckin’ Thunder will be held over two days during Country Thunder which is July 9th to 12th. Performers include Riley Green, Creed, Lainey Wilson, Gavin Adcock, Sacha, The Dead South, and many others.
