ISLAND LAKE FIRST NATION – Loon Lake RCMP are asking the public to report sightings of wanted man Joshua Clarke.
Loon Lake RCMP are working to locate Joshua Clarke, who is wanted on a warrant after allegedly fleeing from police.
On May 21 at approximately 6:15 p.m., Loon Lake RCMP were making patrols on Island Lake First Nation in relation to a report of an erratic driver.
While making patrols, Loon Lake RCMP located an SUV with two occupants inside. Officers believed one of the SUV occupants may be related to a separate ongoing police investigation. Officers activated their police vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The SUV did not stop for police; instead, it fled at a high rate of speed.
For safety reasons, officers set up a tire deflation device on Highway 21. The SUV ran it over. The SUV continued to flee before later coming to a stop. The driver of the SUV exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby treed area. A passenger in the SUV, who remained in the vehicle, was arrested but later released from police custody without charges.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services were engaged to assist. A police dog tracked the driver who fled for approximately 11 kilometres. Pierceland RCMP also attended the scene and conducted aerial searches with a remotely piloted aircraft system. At this time, the driver of the SUV has not been located.
As a result of the continued investigation, 31-year-old Joshua Clarke, from Edmonton, Alta., is charged with:
- one count, flight from peace officer;
- one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
