SASKATOON — A 28-year-old man arrested by the Crime Reduction Team following a drug trafficking investigation, has been granted bail.
Jesse Rivoningo Manzini was in Saskatoon Provincial Court on May 21. He is now scheduled to return to court on June 4 to enter an election.
Manzini faces charges of trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of counterfeit currency, and possession of property obtained through proceeds of crime.
The charges stem from May 5, when members of the Saskatoon Police Service Crime Reduction Team, along with the Tactical Support and Canine Units, conducted enforcement action in a drug trafficking investigation.
Police say Manzini tried to flee on foot but was apprehended by a police service dog on Muzyka Road and Lucyk Crescent. He was taken to the police cells where he was examined by the on-duty paramedic and treated for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
Police then executed a search warrant in Willow Grove in the 100 block of Padget Crescent.
There, police seized $14,235 CAD, 235 counterfeit $100 Canadian bills, 4,824 grams of cocaine, six cell phones, a vacuum sealer, digital scales, and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.
