SASKATOON — A 28-year-old woman accused of firing shots from a sawed-off shotgun in the city’s west side appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court Tuesday.
Shaylynn Courtoreille was remanded and a bail hearing has been scheduled for May 28.
She was arrested after Saskatoon Police Service officers responded to a restaurant in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West at approximately 1:40 a.m. on May 26 following reports of shots fired and bear spray discharged.
During their investigation, police located a backpack that contained a matching firearm in the 400 block of Avenue T South. In the same area, officers located Courtoreille, who matched the suspect description, and arrested her.
No one reported sustaining any injuries as a result.
Court records show Courtoreille is charged with using a sawed-off firearm while committing assault with a weapon, carrying a sawed-off rifle without precaution for the safety of others, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a sawed-off firearm without having a license, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm (sawed-off firearm), possession of a loaded prohibited firearm (sawed-off firearm) while prohibited, and intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless to the life or safety of others.
