CORMAN PARK — A multi-agency traffic enforcement project in the RM of Corman Park resulted in 100 vehicles being inspected, 28 offence notices and 58 warnings.
The Corman Park Police Service said eight officers were deployed May 25 in support of two community safety projects: a commercial and light vehicle inspection project on Highway 12 at Township Road 381 and a bicycle safety rodeo for Grade 3 students at South Corman Park School.
The Highway 12 vehicle inspection project was conducted in partnership with the RCMP, Vanscoy Police Service, Dalmeny Police Service, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and Saskatchewan Conservation Officers.
Police said the multi-agency team inspected 100 vehicles during the project.
The inspection project resulted in 28 offence notices, including seven under the Traffic Safety Act, 19 under vehicle equipment regulations and two under the Highways and Transportation Act.
Police also issued 58 warnings, including seven under the Traffic Safety Act, 49 under vehicle equipment regulations and two under the Highways and Transportation Act.
Three commercial carrier inspections were completed. Five vehicle inspection tickets were issued for required repairs, and one truck and trailer combination was placed out of service due to unsafe conditions.
In addition to the commercial inspections, police said one novice driver was issued a 60-day licence suspension and a three-day vehicle impoundment after testing positive for cannabis impairment.
Corman Park police said multi-agency traffic enforcement initiatives remain key priorities for the service in support of safer roads and safer communities in Saskatchewan.
