The Regina Pats have signed their second-round pick from the 2026 Western Hockey League’s prospects draft.
Regina announced Wednesday the signing of 2011-born defenceman Tyson Wolanski to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Pats selected the 6-foot-2 right-shot defenceman 31st overall out of the Abbotsford, B.C.-based Yale Hockey Academy under-15 prep program.
There, Wolanski scored 11 goals and added 36 assists in 29 games during the 2025-26 season, finishing fourth in points among all defencemen in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
Along the way he racked up nine three-point games, including one hat trick, and put together two point-scoring streaks of eight games.
“Tyson brings an exciting combination of skating ability, skill, and size to the table, which we believe will help strengthen our defensive group when he becomes a full-time player with the Pats,” general manager Dale Derkatch said in a news release.
Wolanski was also the Pats’ second pick of the draft after taking Edmonton goalie Fletcher MacDonald ninth overall. The team announced Tuesday that MacDonald has also signed with the club.
