The Regina Pats have gone 3-for-3 with their first picks of the 2026 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.
Regina announced Thursday it has signed its second of two second-rounders, forward Kai Dingwall, to a standard player agreement (formally known as a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement).
Listed at 6-foot-0 and 168 pounds, Dingwall was selected 35th overall, four spots after the Pats took Abbotsford, B.C. defenceman Tyson Wolanski.
In 28 Canadian Sport School Hockey League games last season with the Calgary International Hockey Academy’s under-15 prep team, Dingwall led his team with 21 goals and 25 assists.
His 46 regular-season points also put him one back of Wolanski, both among the top 25 in CSSHL U15 prep scoring.
Head to head, the pair faced off twice – once during the regular season and once at the U15 prep western championship – with Dingwall recording two goals and an assist in the second matchup while Wolanski had one assist in the first game.
“Kai brings an exciting combination of skill, work ethic and leadership to the table, which we believe will help bolster our forward group when he becomes a full-time player with the Pats,” general manager Dale Derkatch said in a news release.
