REGINA — The Regina Public Library (RPL) has closed its central branch for the rest of Friday and the weekend.
In a statement, the RPL said the library closed as of 2 p.m. on Friday because the air conditioner is not working, as the RPL cannot control the inside temperature.
“The building is currently too warm to operate safely, so the library will be closed this weekend,” said Jeff Barber, RPL CEO. “A contractor has assessed the issue, parts are on order, and we’re working to reopen as soon as possible. We know this is inconvenient, and we appreciate everyone’s patience.”
The RPL said it will reassess the situation on Monday to determine whether the building can reopen, potentially with reduced hours.
Further updates on the situation will be posted on the RPL’s website and socials.
