Even in retirement, Jorgen Hus is still delivering picture-perfect footballs.
Hus, who spent 10 seasons as the Saskatchewan Roughriders long snapper before calling it a career in April, has been revealed as one of the chief architects for the team’s 2025 Grey Cup championship rings, which the Riders said in a news release were presented to players, coaches and staff during a special ceremony Sunday.
The club’s announcement said the rings were designed “from the collective vision” of Hus, quarterback Trevor Harris, linebacker Jameer Thurman, head coach Corey Mace and general manager Jeremy O’Day.
Design features include a football-shaped removable top that includes the team’s primary logo as well as 14 green baguette stones to represent each win throughout Saskatchewan’s fifth championship season.
The Roughriders’ logo is overlaid on top of the 112th Grey Cup trophy, above which five stones represent each of the club’s championships.
The underside of the top features a piece of the Grey Cup game ball, laser-engraved with tick marks designed to replicate the piece of wood in the tunnel leading from the Riders’ locker room to the field that the Riders would mark up after each victory in 2025.
This design is ringed by text featuring the years of the team’s five Grey Cup championships, with the top opening to showcase a scaled replica of the Riders’ home at Mosaic Stadium.
Wordmarks stating “Grey Cup Champions” along with the team name comprise the outer edge of the ring.
The sides of the band incorporate each player’s last name and jersey number, along with the year 2025 and five Grey Cup trophies, while the underside of the band features the words “Rider Nation.”
Inside the band are the words “It’s our time” along with another team logo and the score of Saskatchewan’s championship win over the Montreal Alouettes – 25-17.
