Now that we’re officially into June, many will be turning their attention to summer fun like camping, traveling, hiking, fishing, and more. But what’s the weather going to be like this summer across the prairies? According to the Weather Network’s forecast, it could be near normal and somewhat dry, depending on where you live.
The western edge of Saskatchewan near the Alberta border is expected to be hotter than normal this year while the Regina, Saskatoon, Assiniboia, Weyburn, Estevan, and Yorkon regions are forecast to be near normal, with below normal precipitation levels.
Weather Network specialists say periods of heat are expected, however there me be cooler interruptions along the way to help limit the risk of drought, which was a big problem for many areas of west-central Saskatchewan in 2025. According to the outlook, southeast, east-central, northern Saskatchewan, and much of Manitoba appear to be caught in a jet stream separating warmer than normal weather of Alberta and BC and cooler than normal weather in Ontario and Quebec as spring winds down and summer gets going.
There was no definitive answer regarding precipitation levels, however meteorologists are watching what role El Nino will be playing this summer as it begins to strengthen.
