SASKATOON — A 45-year-old man is in custody and faces several charges, including drug trafficking, after a traffic stop in the city’s west side led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.
Saskatoon police say at approximately 11:40 a.m. on June 2, police were in the area of Latrace Road and 33rd Street when a SUV drove by with a male driver who was believed to have a suspended driver’s license and warrants for his arrest.
A traffic stop was conducted in the 500 block of Shae Crescent but police say the driver exited the vehicle and began to walk away. At this point, it was believed he was the same man with outstanding warrants.
He resisted arrest and ran away from an officer multiple times before he was eventually taken into custody without further incident. Upon a search of the vehicle the man was driving, police located a bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a scale.
As a result, the 45-year-old man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and resisting arrest. He was also arrested on his outstanding warrants.
