REGINA — A 44-year-old Regina man appeared in Regina Provincial Court June 3, where a trial date was set on a charge related to a fatal bus shelter crash that killed a 19-year-old woman.
Biniam Emaha is accused of dangerous driving causing death. His trial is expected to start in Regina Provincial Court on Nov. 2.
The charge stems from a four-month Regina police investigation into the October 2025 fatal collision.
Emergency crews were called to the 3400 block of Dewdney Avenue shortly after noon on Oct. 12, 2025, for a report of a serious crash. When police, Regina Fire and Protective Services, and EMS arrived, they found a 19-year-old woman lying on the ground near a bus shelter. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police say the collision began when a freight truck travelling east on Dewdney Avenue failed to stop for a red light at Elphinstone Street and struck a southbound vehicle. After the initial impact, the truck veered off the roadway, crashing into the bus shelter where the woman had been standing. The vehicle continued on, hitting several fences and a streetlight before stopping in the front yard of a nearby home.
Regina Police Service’s Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (ICART) led the investigation.
