MELFORT — The Melfort RCMP is investigating a recent break, enter and theft incident.
According to a post on the Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers' Facebook page, on May 26 at approximately 10:05 p.m., four storage units at a facility on McDonald Avenue West in Melfort were broken into, and items were stolen from two of the units. The suspects arrived in a truck, cut the locks on the units and stole property before attempting to leave the area.
The post said one suspect is a Caucasian male with a short, slim build. The other is described as an Indigenous male with a tall, large build. The vehicle is believed to be a light blue 1999-2007 Ford F-250 super crew truck with silver bottom trim.
"While departing, the truck became stuck in a ditch. The Indigenous male left on foot toward Highway 6, while the Caucasian male remained with the vehicle. A black early-to mid-2000s Ford F-150 stopped briefly and spoke with the suspect before leaving. A local farmer later assisted by pulling the F-250 from the ditch," the June 5 post stated.
Prior to the farmer's arrival, the post said one of the suspects contacted Quibell Towing for assistance.
The Melfort RCMP is seeking to identify and speak with the driver and occupants of the black Ford F-150, as they might have information relevant to the investigation.
