Swan River, Manitoba – The Town of Swan River has declared a Local State of Emergency (LSE) effective immediately in response to significant overland flooding impacting the community and surrounding areas.
Recent weather conditions, including prolonged rainfall, have led to rising water levels and widespread overland flooding. The situation poses a risk to public safety, critical infrastructure, and private property.
“The safety of our residents is our top priority,” said Lance Jacobson, Mayor of the Town of Swan River. “Declaring a Local State of Emergency allows us to take the necessary actions to protect our community and respond quickly to evolving conditions.”
Current Situation
Water levels in low-lying areas have continued to rise, resulting in:
• Flooded roadways and restricted access in some parts of town
• Increased strain on drainage systems
• Potential impacts to residential and commercial properties
Crews are actively monitoring conditions and working to mitigate impacts, including supplying sandbags and coordinating resources.

With the declaration of a Local State of Emergency, the Town is empowered to:
