REGINA — Two men are facing charges including attempted murder for a criminal organization in connection with an incident that left a man with multiple lacerations.
On June 10, 31-year-old Kenneth Manitopyes and 37-year-old Chad Keewatin were arrested. Keewatin faces an additional charge of breaching a release order.
The charges stem from an incident on April 12 when officers were patrolling in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Argyle Street and observed an injured man on the sidewalk at approximately 1:50 a.m. He was suffering from multiple lacerations. Officers provided first-aid until EMS arrived and took the male victim to hospital to be treated for, what appeared to be, serious injuries.
Investigators with the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Canine Unit were called in to assist patrol officers. Shortly after 2 a.m., the investigation led police to a home in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street where a search warrant was executed. Multiple people were located inside the home. Some were taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
Further investigation led police to arrest and charge Manitopyes and Keewatin in relation to this incident.
Manitopyes appeared in court on June 11. Keewatin made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on June 12.
