YELLOW QUILL FIRST NATION — The Saskatchewan RCMP says a man is wanted by the Rose Valley detachment after a shooting on the Yellow Quill First Nation.
According to an RCMP news release, on June 13 at approximately 4:35 a.m., the Rose Valley RCMP responded to the incident. A man was located injured outside a residence. He was transported to hospital with injuries that the RCMP said are non-life threatening.
The RCMP added officers also discovered a vehicle that had sustained fire damage at the scene.
The suspect fled prior to police arriving and the RCMP said was not immediately located. The Rose Valley RCMP detachment engaged Yorkton RCMP Police Dog Services to assist with finding the suspect.
The RCMP asks the public to report sightings and information on the whereabouts of 26-year-old Kain Cheechan from Yellow Quill First Nation. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
He is charged with one count each of discharge a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and arson to a vehicle; and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order.
Cheechan is described as standing 5'7" and weighing 176 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
