REGINA — A 23-year-old man is facing several firearm charges after Regina police discovered him sleeping in an apartment stairwell with a loaded gun early Saturday morning.
Officers were responding to a service call at a building in the 2800 block of Dewdney Avenue on June 13 at about 11:35 p.m. when they found a man sleeping in a stairwell.
Officers woke him and attempted to speak with him. As he stood, officers observed him reach for his waistband, where a firearm was visible. The suspect was arrested without incident.
Police seized the loaded firearm and charged the man with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a loaded/prohibited restricted firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and careless use of a firearm.
He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on June 15.
