ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Police Service made arrests in a couple of mischief incidents on the weekend.
Police received a report June 12 of an individual spraying graffiti. Police located a 21-year-old man from Brandon, Man., who the EPS said is on release conditions from Brandon for assault, and charged him with mischief to property. The EPS added that officers determined he had committed mischief to four separate properties in Estevan. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date.
Members received a request from the RCMP to locate a vehicle travelling on the highway to Estevan. The EPS said members located the vehicle, and the driver was warned regarding the driving complaint.
Police were called to a residence on two occasions during the night, as the EPS said two roommates could not get along. One of them was provided with alternative accommodation for the night.
Members attended a fight on the patio of a local liquor establishment. The EPS said officers requested Estevan EMS to tend to one of the combatants. He was transported to the hospital by EMS. The EPS said the matter is still under investigation.
Police received a report of an underage individual attempting to gain entry to a local liquor establishment. Officers were able to identify the youth, even though he had fled prior to police arrival. The EPS said police are considering issuing a ticket under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act.
Officers attended to a report of loud music near Royal Heights Park. Police located the gathering and warned the host.
Members investigated a break and enter and mischief to a Pleasantdale residence that the EPS said occurred early on June 13. A man was arrested later that day for the offences and made his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on June 15. The EPS said this appears to be an isolated incident, and the EPS does not have any additional suspects at this time.
Police were called to a report of uttering threats at a residence in south Estevan. The EPS said members attended and further learned that an assault may have occurred. The matter is under investigation.
Members received a request for assistance from long-term care at St. Joseph’s Hospital. According to the EPS, one of the residents had left the facility, entered a stranger’s vehicle and would not get out. Police attended and were able to get the resident to walk back to his residence.
Police received a report from a residence in the Pleasantdale area of a stranger on the front step, attempting to gain entry. Members attended and the EPS said they found the individual’s shoes still on the step, however, the person had already left. Police learned that it was a woman who was attempting to locate a friend and had gone to the wrong residence. The EPS said police attended her home to return her shoes, and members suggested that she return to the residence where she had been reported and apologize to the homeowners once she sobered up.
Officers located an intoxicated man who was having difficulty finding his home. Police transported him home to family members so that a responsible person could care for him.
Police received a report of a dumpster fire from CP Rail staff who observed the fire while passing through Estevan. The EPS and the Estevan Fire Rescue Service attended, and the fire was contained to the container. The matter is still under investigation.
Officers were asked to keep the peace June 14 by the Ministry of Social Services while individuals conducted a child custody exchange. The EPS said there was a dispute regarding where the children were to be. When there was a refusal to comply with the exchange direction, the EPS said the ministry had to become further involved.
Police attended a local liquor establishment following a report of an individual being in a lounge contrary to his release conditions. Police attended and arrested the man for breaching his conditions. The EPS said he was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.
