REGINA — A nine-year-old child was taken to hospital following a dog attack in the city’s 6th Avenue area on Wednesday evening, say Regina Police Service.
On June 17, at approximately 8 p.m., police were patrolling in the area of 6th Avenue when they were flagged down by two children. They told police they had been attacked by a dog. One child had a visible wound on his face. The victims also reported they witnessed the dog attack another dog in a nearby yard.
EMS attended and took the nine-year-old victim to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Animal Protection officers and police located the dog at a home a short distance away.
At this time, the dog is in the custody of Animal Protection. Animal Protection has now taken over the lead on this investigation and the Regina Police Service will assist as required.
