BATTLEFORD — A 35-year-old woman from Big Island Lake Cree Territory who has been charged with second-degree murder after a man she is accused of assaulting died, is now scheduled to stand trial.
Doreen Evelyn Oseemeemow was initially charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a man was taken to hospital in serious condition after an alleged assault at Big Island Lake Cree Territory. Those charges have been withdrawn and replaced with the murder charge.
The assault happened on Jan. 2, 2024, and the man died on Jan. 18, 2024.
A trial in the case is now set for Sept. 21, 2026, at the Court of King's Bench in Battleford.
