SASKATOON — Two people are facing multiple charges following an incident early Friday morning in Mount Royal.
At approximately 2 a.m. on June 26, police observed a vehicle occupied by two people parked in an alley in the 200 block of Avenue V South. The vehicle was then seen leaving the alley immediately after. As officers positioned themselves behind the vehicle and confirmed it to be stolen, the vehicle suddenly took off at a high rate of speed before a traffic stop could be initiated.
The vehicle was later observed in an alley in the 200 block of Avenue X North where a man and woman were seen fleeing from it.
The male suspect was arrested without incident a short distance away. A police service dog was then used to locate both the female suspect as well as a discarded firearm within close proximity to her. She was later taken to hospital for injuries consistent with a dog bite.
The 21-year-old woman has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, evading police, dangerous driving, possession of a firearm without a license, knowingly occupying a vehicle where a firearm was present without having a license.
