SASKATOON — A 30-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges after police say he fled from police in the Caswell area in a stolen vehicle and collided with a parked car.
Police say at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 26, officers received a report of a male in a parked car, acting suspiciously at 29th Street and Idylwyld Drive. While not able to initially locate the vehicle, police spotted it minutes later travelling on 23rd Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The driver refused to stop and began driving erratically. Officers didn’t pursue for safety reasons. Minutes later it was reported that a collision between the Dodge Journey and a parked car had occurred at Park Ave. and 5th Street East. The suspect was located in a parking lot at Cumberland Ave. and 8th Street East.
The vehicle was reported to have been stolen from Meadow Lake and there was a Canada-wide warrant for the suspect on driving prohibitions.
The 30-year old man is now facing charges of dangerous driving, evading police, three counts of driving while prohibited, and possession of stolen property.
