SASKATOON — Two people appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 29 following a police chase. One was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and the other was found to be breaching a court-ordered curfew.
Ashton Corrigal, 31, and Lenora Lafleur, 33, were both remanded into custody after their appearance. Crown Prosecutor Elizabeth Addabor is opposed to their release. Judge Q.D. Agnew adjourned their matters to July 2.
The pair now face new charges. Corrigal faces additional charges of dangerous driving and evading police. Lafleur faces a charge of breaching her court-ordered conditions.
The arrests are a result of an attempted traffic stop by Saskatoon Police Service on a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of 12th Street East and Wiggins Avenue. When police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers disengaged from the pursuit but later located the vehicle unoccupied in a parkade in the 100 block of Hospital Drive.
Officers obtained video surveillance showing the suspects getting into a cab. Police then went to the location where the cab dropped them off and arrested Corrigal and Lafleur.
