SASKATOON — In Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 29, Brandon Moore, 45, pleaded guilty to inciting hatred against Jewish people. His remaining charges of wilfully promoting hatred and antisemitism and unsafe storage of a firearm will be withdrawn at sentencing, as is customary.
Saskatoon police charged Moore in December 2025 after a lengthy investigation that started in 2024, when they received a complaint about anti-Semitic comments posted online.
Moore has a social media following of approximately 181,000 users on X. His comments drew the attention of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC).
“These posts are not mere ‘opinion’ – they are dehumanizing, vilifying and threatening, and are designed to incite hate and hostility against the entire Jewish community,” said Jaime Kirzner-Roberts, FSWC’s senior director of policy and advocacy.
The SPS Hate Crime Unit was created in January 2022, as part of the Interpersonal Conflict Section, and provides support to frontline officers and other investigative units.
In an effort to increase awareness around hate-motivated crime and to improve access to reporting related incidents, the SPS created a web page and added to its online reporting function.
The unit monitors hate-motivated crime for the purpose of aiding in identifying crimes and criminals, and to assist with sentencing at the end of the judicial process.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
