Brady Bye delivered the biggest moment of Canada Day in the Western Canadian Baseball League.
Bye blasted a walk-off grand slam to lift the Regina Red Sox to a dramatic 5-4 victory over the Swift Current 57's in the opener of a Canada Day doubleheader at Currie Field, highlighting a busy night across the league.
The celebration didn't last long for Regina, however, as Swift Current earned a split by claiming the second game 8-7. The 57's scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning, while Mace Wheeler led the offence by going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
In Brooks, the Brooks Bombers used a four-run fourth inning to take control before holding off the Saskatoon Berries for a 7-5 victory. The Bombers built a 6-2 advantage through four innings and never surrendered the lead despite a late push from the Berries.
Moose Jaw and Medicine Hat also split a Canada Day doubleheader.
The Mavericks captured the opener 5-2 despite a gritty complete-game effort from Moose Jaw starter Jacob Glazener. The Miller Express right-hander allowed five runs on just three hits over seven innings, striking out five while issuing three walks.
The Miller Express bounced back in game two, erupting for five runs in the fifth inning on the way to a 7-4 victory to salvage the split.
In Energy City, the Weyburn Beavers pulled off one of the night's most impressive comebacks. Trailing entering the ninth inning, the Beavers scored twice in their final at-bat to edge the Energy City Cactus Rats 10-9. Robert Gurney powered the Weyburn offence, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI and two walks in the come-from-behind win.
