OTTAWA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders may have dodged a bullet when it came to dealing with injuries to their highly vaunted receiving corps heading into their Week 5 match-up against the Ottawa Red Blacks.
The Riders depth chart officially revealed on Thursday morning that both Samuel Emilus and Kian Schaffer-Baker will be in the line-up when the two teams meet on Friday night. Emilus spent the past week under questionable status as he tried to quickly recover from an ankle injury, while Schaffer-Baker suffered an oblique injury was was able to recover in time.
The news wasn’t as good for standout running back A.J. Ouellette, as he’ll spend at least another game on the reserve roster with his ankle injury. The news is somewhat good, though, as Ouellette was listed as questionable and may return to the line-up soon.
Saskatchewan also saw a pair of key cogs in the offence and defence back in the line-up, with Dhel Duncan-Busby back in at wide receiver after recovering from a shoulder injury and defensive back Nelson Lokombo returning after missing last week with a banged-up ankle.
Two players are set to make their Canadian Football League debut, as Johnny Johnson III will get his first start at slotback and Mathew Sexton will enter the line-up as a back -up wide receiver and potential returner. Defensive lineman Devin Adams returns to the line-up off the practice roster.
Wide receiver Jaylen Johnson moves to the one-game injured list with a shoulder injury, return specialist James Lechter Jr. has been moved to the six-game with an elbow injury and is joined there by defensive lineman Ali Saad after he went down with a calf injury last game.
After getting the start at slotback against Toronto, Regina product D’Sean Mimbs moves back to the practice roster, as does linebacker Seyi Odalipo Jr.
The Rider Broadcast Network pre-game show will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder having the game call at 5:30 p.m.
