SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) is reminding the public about a text scam circulating through the community regarding provincial court traffic violations. Do not click the link or make any payments to the website.
The fraud sends a text message, claiming to be from a police officer, and says the recipient has a provincial court traffic violation and must appear in court. It then asks people to click on a link to pay a fine.
Residents are being advised to block the number and ignore the text, the SPS said.
“The Saskatoon Police Service will never send a text message regarding payments of any kind,” the SPS said in a news release.
If you have been a victim of any fraud or scam, please report it to the SPS at 306-975-8300. These text messages can also be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
