REGINA — A 24-year-old man is in custody and facing several charges following a robbery early Saturday morning.
According to Regina Police Service, at approximately 2:50 a.m. on July 4, police were called to the 700 block of Victoria Avenue for a report that a male victim had been bear sprayed.
When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from the effects of bear spray. Through investigation officers learned the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by a male suspect unknown to him. The suspect assaulted the victim with bear spray before taking money from the victim and leaving the scene.
Officers searched the area and, a short time later, located the suspect inside a hotel room in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers located a canister of bear spray inside the room.
He was charged with robbery and failing to comply with a probation order. He appeared in Regina court Monday.
