ESTEVAN — A busy day for the Estevan Police Service (EPS) on July 6 included a collision, a scam report and other calls.
EPS members attended to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 13th Avenue and King Street. The EPS said the collision was determined to be non-reportable to police, and the drivers were assisted to exchange information and directed to follow up with SGI.
Officers received a complaint of a fraud by email, during which the victim believed that they were contacted by their employer and directed to purchase gift cards and provide them with the card numbers. The EPS said the victim did so before realizing it was a fraudulent email. The matter remains under investigation.
A report of a man acting erratically behind a business in the downtown core was investigated. The individual, who is known to police, was located a short distance away. He was advised that he was not welcome back outside of the business, and the EPS said he was sent on his way without incident.
A driving complaint involving an aggressive driver was investigated during the day shift. The EPS said the vehicle was not located while being operated, however the registered owner was contacted and cautioned regarding the reported driving actions.
Officers investigated a report of mischief to a vehicle. The EPS said it was determined to be caused by an occupant of an adjacent vehicle opening their door and contacting the victim’s vehicle. The owner of the vehicle responsible for the damage was identified and spoken to about the incident.
A complaint came in from the Scotsburn area of three boys knocking on a residence’s door and running away before the homeowner could answer. The EPS said the youths are believed to have left the scene in a dark SUV.
Police conducted curfew checks on several individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. One of those checked was found to not be at his approved residence during stipulated hours and as a result, a charge of breaching his conditions was laid. The EPS said he will be arrested when police locate him.
