OXBOW — A 45-year-old man from the R.M. of Enniskillen has been arrested following a firearms investigation near Oxbow.
On July 4, Estevan/Carnduff RCMP received a report that a man had pointed a firearm at an individual at a rural property approximately 16 kilometres southwest of Oxbow. No physical injuries were reported to police.
On July 8, officers from Estevan/Carnduff RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a home on the rural property. Officers with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), Moose Jaw Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Carlyle RCMP and Broadview/Moosomin RCMP also assisted.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized four loaded firearms, and one imitation firearm. Two people were arrested and one was released without charges.
Curtis Biberdorf was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, along with five counts each of unsafe storage of firearms and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Biberdorf appeared in Weyburn Provincial Court on July 9.
Estevan/Carnduff RCMP say they continue to investigate.
