NORTH BATTLEFORD — Battlefords RCMP seized multiple weapons and charged four individuals following a traffic stop in North Battleford.
On July 7 at approximately 8 a.m., Battlefords RCMP were making proactive patrols and conducted a traffic stop on 100 Street in North Battleford.
The investigation determined multiple occupants in the vehicle were breaching court-ordered conditions. Three males and a female were arrested at the scene. The female resisted arrest; however, officers were able to bring her into custody safely.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a sawed-off firearm, bear spray, a knife, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the continued investigation, a 30-year-old male suspect, a 40-year-old male suspect, a 25-year-old female suspect, and a 25-year-old male suspect, all from North Battleford, are each charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle;
- one count, unsafe storage of firearms;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
- two counts, carrying a concealed weapon.
The 40-year-old male suspect was additionally charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- two counts, fail to comply with probation order; and
- two counts, weapons possession contrary to order.
He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Edmonton Police Service.
The 25-year-old female suspect was additionally charged with:
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer; and
- one count, weapons possession contrary to order.
All four accused appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on July 8.
