REGINA — A 23-year-old man is facing charges following a high-speed motorcycle pursuit in Regina on Thursday.
Police say the incident started at about 11:20 p.m. on July 9 when patrol officers were in the area of Pasqua Street and Sherwood Drive and observed a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Pasqua Street North and 9th Avenue North, officers attempted a traffic stop.
The driver fled, rapidly accelerating northbound on Pasqua Street North. The Aerial Support Unit (ASU) was notified and monitored the motorcycle, observing speeds of up to 200 km/h and travelling through multiple red lights.
Moments later, ASU directed officers on the ground to a residence in the 2200 block of Princess Street, where the suspect was observed. As officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot and was quickly taken into custody without further incident.
He has been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police and resisting arrest.
