REGINA — A lost dog outside in the extreme heat has been reunited with its owner.
On Saturday, Regina Fire & Protective Services (RFPS) and the Regina Humane Society (RHS) were called to a creek nearby to aid the animal.
“The dog had been down in the creek, so we were asked to assist," explained Bill Thorn, director of marketing and public relations.
Thorn said firefighters managed to pull the dog from the water, with the older animal showing signs of struggle from heat and exhaustion.
Luckily, the RHS and RFPS managed to reunite the dog with its owners.
“Happily, it is back home and spending time with its family again where it belongs.”
During extreme heat, Thorn recommends keeping pets inside.
“They can get very hot with fur and may struggle without suitable shade and fluid.”
