The battle for top spot in the CFL remains as tight as ever heading into Week 7.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders reclaimed the top position in the SportsCage.com CFL Power Rankings following a dominant performance against Hamilton, while the Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Elks remain close behind after impressive victories of their own.
Calgary held its ground despite a narrow loss to Montreal, while Winnipeg climbed a spot after Dru Brown guided the Blue Bombers past Toronto.
SportsCage.com CFL Power Rankings: Week 7
1. Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-1) ▲1
Last Week: 2
The Roughriders looked every bit like the league's most complete team in Sunday's 38-7 dismantling of Hamilton at Mosaic Stadium.
Trevor Harris threw touchdown passes to Samuel Emilus and Kian Schaffer-Baker, while Saskatchewan's defence suffocated the Tiger-Cats from start to finish. The Riders allowed just seven points and never surrendered a touchdown, adding a late exclamation point when linebacker Josh Woods returned an interception 107 yards for a touchdown.
With A.J. Ouellette back in the lineup and the defence finding ways to takeaway the ball, Saskatchewan once again looks like the team to beat.
2. Montreal Alouettes (4-1) ▼1
Last Week: 1
There wasn't much separating Montreal and Saskatchewan this week.
The Alouettes rebounded from their bye week with a 37-30 win over Calgary behind another outstanding outing from quarterback Davis Alexander, who threw for 301 yards and a touchdown.
Receiver Tyson Philpot continued his breakout season with 132 receiving yards and a score as Montreal's offence again proved capable of scoring from anywhere on the field.
The Als drop a spot only because Saskatchewan's defence produced one of the most dominant performances of the season.
3. Edmonton Elks (4-1)
Last Week: 3
The Elks continue to quietly go about their business.
Edmonton improved to 4-1 with a convincing 40-17 victory over Ottawa as running back Justin Rankin found the end zone three times and quarterback Cody Fajardo tossed a pair of touchdowns.
Perhaps most impressive was an Edmonton defence that forced four interceptions and continues to emerge as one of the CFL's stingiest units.
The West Division race is shaping up to be a three-team heavyweight fight.
4. Calgary Stampeders (3-2)
Last Week: 5
The Stampeders move up despite losing in Montreal.
Calgary pushed one of the league's elite teams to the limit on the road and showed plenty of resolve after falling behind by two scores multiple times.
Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns while Canadian receiver Dejon Brissett continued his strong stretch with another two-touchdown performance.
There are no moral victories in professional football, but Calgary proved it belongs in the upper tier of the CFL.
5. Toronto Argonauts (3-2) ▼1
Last Week: 4
The Argonauts finally looked human.
After scoring at least 30 points in each of their first four games, Toronto was held to 21 points by Winnipeg and struggled to protect quarterback Chad Kelly from a relentless Blue Bombers pass rush.
The offence remains dangerous enough to beat anyone, but defensive consistency continues to be a concern.
6. BC Lions (2-3)
Last Week: 6
The Lions had the week off and remain exactly where they were a week ago.
BC still possesses enough offensive firepower to climb these rankings quickly, but they'll need to start stringing together victories if they want to keep pace in a loaded West Division.
7. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-3) ▲1
Last Week: 8
Welcome back, Dru Brown.
Making his first start for Winnipeg since 2023, Dru Brown threw for 339 yards in a statement victory over Toronto.
The Bombers also got another vintage performance from their defence, with Willie Jefferson recording two sacks and consistently disrupting Chad Kelly.
If Brown can continue to steady the offence while Zach Collaros recovers, Winnipeg may be climbing these rankings quickly.
8. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-3) ▼1
Last Week: 7
This was a difficult watch for Tiger-Cats fans.
Hamilton managed only seven points and failed to score an offensive touchdown against Saskatchewan while quarterbacks Jake Dolegala and Tre Ford struggled to generate much momentum.
9. Ottawa REDBLACKS (0-5)
Last Week: 9
The only winless team in the CFL remains firmly in the basement.
Ottawa was picked apart by Edmonton in a 40-17 loss and committed four interceptions in another frustrating night offensively.
Until the REDBLACKS prove they can consistently protect the football and finish drives, it's difficult to move them anywhere but ninth.
