REGINA — University of Regina (U of R) employees represented by CUPE 5791 have signed a new four-year collective agreement with the school.
The new deal covers roughly 740 staff in administrative, technical, professional, and support roles across the university, according to a CUPE news release on Wednesday.
As part of the new agreement, staff will receive a wage increase of 3 per cent in 2026, followed by 2.75 per cent in 2027, then 2.75 per cent in 2028 and lastly 3 per cent in 2029. Most members will also be entitled to a yearly incremental increase of 2 per cent over the four years. When all increases are added, most members will see a near 18 per cent wage growth after four years.
Beyond wages, says CUPE, the agreement also includes better benefits and workplace improvements, including added funding for the flexible spending account, expanded paramedical coverage for licensed psychologists and social workers, and changes to temporary higher-paid duties language.
These improvements also include a carryover float day and three days dedicated to personal leave.
Employees will also receive greater flexibility with time off through the addition of a carryover.
“This agreement represents significant progress for our members and recognizes the essential work they do across the University of Regina,” said Justin Ludwig, president of CUPE 5791, in a statement.
Ludwig added In addition to meaningful wage increases, CUPE is happy to secure improvements that enhance members' quality of life.
“This agreement reflects the strength of our membership and our continued commitment to fostering better workplaces.”
