LA RONGE – A man has been charged in relation to a shooting in La Ronge.
On July 18 at approximately 11 a.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of a firearm discharge on Cook Crescent in La Ronge.
The investigation determined a vehicle approached a residential property. Several occupants exited the vehicle, and an altercation occurred between them and an individual at the property. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, injuring a female who remained inside the vehicle. She was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
As a result of the investigation, La Ronge RCMP arrested a man at the residence. Officers also located and seized a firearm near the property where the incident occurred.
In relation to this investigation, a 36-year-old man, from La Ronge, is charged with:
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- one count, discharge firearm with intent; and
- three counts, assault with a weapon.
The accused appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on July 20. He is scheduled to appear next on Aug. 17.
