SASKATOON — A coordinated effort between the Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit (ASU) and ground officers resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and several charges against a woman on Monday afternoon.
On July 20, at approximately 4:40 p.m., ASU members spotted a vehicle in the area of Avenue P South and 21st Street West that had been the subject of a recent erratic driving complaint. The ASU continued to monitor the vehicle, providing real-time updates to patrol officers on the ground.
Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle on 21st Street West between Avenue L South and Avenue M South. Five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody without further incident. An alcohol screening test was conducted on the driver of the vehicle, which resulted in a fail.
The driver, a 36-year-old woman, was arrested and has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding .08, and possession of a stolen vehicle valued under $5,000.
